Field Engineer

My growing defence client is seeking a Field Systems Engineer. Our client is a cutting-edge analytics/ defence technology company based in the Southwest. They have an office in Central Bristol and Wiltshire, they embrace hybrid working, but you will be required to travel depending on contract and customer demands. You will be part of the product delivery team working with soldiers to capture training data that provides insights on their individual and collective shooting performance.

We are looking for someone who enjoys to travel, has a practical and methodical approach and is excited to work with new technology.

To be successful in this role, broad experience is beneficial with strong technical skills and interests, you will also need excellent communication and collaboration skills to be able to work with colleagues, both in delivery and with the development team.Join our team and bring your expertise to the table, where you will:


Support project delivery by installing software onto our hardware, configuring and testing
• Work across our products and services by advising on and supporting all communication and
information system matters.
• Be responsive and proactive in monitoring the quality of service when delivering to a
customer and be confident in your problem-solving skills and self-awareness about when to
seek advice or support.
• Communicate and effectively engage with stakeholders at all levels whether they are internal
engineers, soldiers on a training exercise or senior decision makers.
• Embrace a culture of learning by remaining open to feedback and incorporating this feedback
into your approach to effectively deliver.

We expect you to have the following:

Excellent IT skills and an appetite to understand and utilise new and advancing technology.
o Knowledge of deploying IP based networks using DCHP and fixed IPs.
o Knowledge of being able to remote into devices locally and over networks.
o Ability to diagnose and solve networking issues.
o Ability to configure VPNs and add clients to a system.
o Knowledge of MDM management software.
• The ability to work in austere environments with minimal support and equipment to meet a
customer need.
• An approach to work that is thorough, has attention to detail and is proactive.
• Excellent communication skills to deliver effective training to the customer and end user.
• Knowledge of A-TAK, deploying servers and plugins.
• Appropriate security clearances, or ability to obtain them.
• A UK Driving Licence

Whilst not necessary to apply, we'd love you to also have:
Experience of working internationally.
• Ability to configure, deploy and manage deployable networks (e.g. unifi).
• Experience of hardware configuration and assembly.
• Qualifications in training delivery.
• Experience of working in or with the defence sector.
