Platform Engineering Manager - DV Clearance

Job Title: Platform Engineering Manager
Location: Farnborough
Contract Type: 6-Month Contract
Rate: £700-£800 per day (Inside IR35)
Hours: 37.5 per week (3-4 days a week on-site)
Security Clearance: DV clearance required (must hold current DV)
The Opportunity:
We're looking for an experienced Platform/Environments Manager to lead environment management across a complex defence integration programme.
You'll design and embed best practices for configuration control, CI/CD pipelines, and Infrastructure-as-Code within a highly secure, hybrid cloud environment.
Working within a SAFe Agile framework, you'll coordinate with DevOps, Infrastructure, and Network teams to ensure environments are stable, consistent, and audit-ready for supporting mission-critical digital services.
The Role: As Platform Manager, you'll oversee the creation, control, and operation of development, test, and production environments across hybrid systems.
You will:

• Establish and manage environment configuration and control processes
• Support CI/CD pipelines and IaC deployment (Terraform, Ansible)
• Implement and enforce GitLab branching strategies and version control
• Maintain hybrid environments (AWS + on-prem) under strict change governance
• Collaborate with technical teams to align testing, deployment, and production operations

The Person: We're seeking a technically strong, process-driven leader with excellent communication skills.
You'll need:

• Proven experience managing complex IT environments at scale
• Deep expertise in CI/CD and IaC (Terraform, Ansible)
• Strong GitLab and configuration management experience
• Background in secure Defence or Government environments
• Knowledge of AWS and hybrid infrastructure
• Excellent stakeholder engagement and organisational skills

Desirable:

• AWS certification (Cloud Practitioner or higher)
