Data Center Principal Mechanical Engineer to join our client's dynamic team in London. This pivotal role is tailored for a technical leader passionate about delivering complex, mission-critical projects for data centres and high-performance facilities across both UK and international markets.

About the Role:

As a Principal Mechanical Engineer, you will spearhead the mechanical design delivery for large-scale data centre projects, ensuring all outputs adhere to the highest engineering standards and regulatory requirements. Your expertise will drive technical governance, quality assurance, and innovative solutions from concept design through to construction support and project handover.

Key Responsibilities:

- Lead multidisciplinary mechanical design for mission-critical projects, managing all stages from concept to construction.
- Oversee and validate technical deliverables, including calculations, specifications, and drawings.
- Ensure strict compliance with UK Building Regulations and international standards such as ASHRAE, Uptime Institute, and EN 50600.
- Provide technical leadership in client engagements, design coordination, and technical workshops.
- Mentor and develop engineering teams, cultivating a culture of design excellence and best practice.
- Support construction-stage activities, offering technical guidance during site inspections, commissioning, and project close-out.
- Collaborate with electrical, public health, structural, architectural, and specialist disciplines to deliver integrated engineering solutions.
- Contribute technical insights to business development, project planning, and proposal generation.

Your Profile:

- Degree in Mechanical Engineering from an accredited institution.
- Chartered Engineer status (CIBSE/IMechE or equivalent).
- 10 15 years of consultancy experience delivering large-scale data centre or mission-critical projects.
- Demonstrated leadership in multidisciplinary teams and client relationship management.
- Strong knowledge of mechanical infrastructure resilience, HVAC design, BMS integration, and energy-efficient solutions.
- Familiarity with UK and international standards, and experience in Tier III/IV data centre environments.
- Commercially astute with proven fee management capabilities.
