Data Center Engineer
Role Summary
Customer is seeking a highly motivated and disciplined Sr. Data Center Operations Engineer to lead their EU data center activities. This is a highly visible, mission-critical role that offers a unique opportunity to showcase your technical expertise and leadership skills while managing infrastructure that supports our global customer base.
Key Responsibilities
Remote Hands Technical Support: Perform expert-level Remote Hands services,including hardware installation, troubleshooting, and power cycling, tracked via ticketing systems (e.g., Equinix or Digital Realty).
Infrastructure Management: Execute rack-and-stack procedures, cable termination (fiber and copper), and manage cross-connects.
Maintenance and Audits: Perform cabinet/cage audits, hardware component replacements (blades, memory, hard drives, transceivers), and equipment migrations.
Operations Oversight: Maintain strict adherence to Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), manage inventory verification, and ensure the overall cleanliness and professional appearance of the data center.
Troubleshooting: Utilize industry-standard test equipment to diagnose and resolve complex hardware and software issues, performing root cause analysis.
Documentation: Provide timely updates via computer-based ticketing systems and maintain accurate documentation of all infrastructure changes.
Emergency Response: Provide rotational on-call coverage and maintain the ability to report to the facility within an average of one hour for emergency assistance.
Qualifications
Education: Bachelor’s degree in IT, Engineering, Computer Science, or equivalent professional experience.
Experience: 7+ years of experience in telecommunications or data center operations,with at least 5 years specifically in data center and wireless environments.
Technical Proficiency:
Demonstrated experience in scaling computing infrastructure.
Strong knowledge of telecom structured cabling standards and network device deployment.
Proficiency in using power and hand tools (drills, crimpers, punch-down tools, etc.).
AI knowledge. Using thought process to review your work and understand how
AI can improve and streamline your work.

- Proven problem-solving capabilities, including the ability to collect data, establish

Flexibility: Ability to work flexible shift schedules and participate in global travel (15–20%).
Physical Demands
- Ability to lift and handle up to 50 pounds.
- Ability to bend, stoop, and stretch for the placement and retrieval of network equipment.
- Comfortable working under raised data center floors and climbing ladders (up to 16 feet) to access plenum spaces.
