Job Description

Role Overview

• We are seeking an experienced Micro Focus Administrator / Rocket Software Enterprise

• Administrator to manage, maintain, and optimize enterprise-level systems built on Micro Focus and/or Rocket Software platforms. The role requires strong expertise in system administration, troubleshooting, performance tuning, upgrades, integrations, and automation across enterprise environments.

• The ideal candidate will work closely with infrastructure, application, and security teams to ensure stable, secure, and efficient system operations.

Key Responsibilities Micro Focus / Rocket Software Platform Administration

• Install, configure, and maintain Micro Focus or Rocket Software enterprise suites (e.g., Enterprise Server, COBOL environments, UFT, ALM, Service Manager, Enterprise Developer, Rocket Process Automation, Rocket Terminal Emulation, or equivalent).

• Perform system upgrades, patches, and migrations to ensure platform stability and compliance.

• Troubleshoot platform issues, analyze logs, and resolve performance bottlenecks.

• Manage licensing, user provisioning, and configuration across environments (Dev, QA, Prod).

System Operations & Maintenance

• Monitor application and server health, availability, and capacity using enterprise monitoring tools.

• Optimize system performance, including memory, CPU, I/O, job scheduling, and workload balancing.

• Conduct root-cause analysis (RCA) for production incidents and implement preventive measures.

• Maintain system documentation, architecture diagrams, and SOPs.

Integration & Automation

• Integrate Micro Focus/Rocket tools with CI/CD pipelines, version control systems, and automation frameworks.

• Develop scripts (PowerShell, Bash, Python, Shell) to automate tasks, deployments, and maintenance activities.

• Support DevOps and modernization initiatives for legacy workloads.

Security & Compliance

• Implement security best practices, patch management, and vulnerability remediation.

• Ensure compliance with internal governance, audit requirements, and regulatory standards.

• Work with security teams on access control, encryption, and secure configurations.

Collaboration & Support

• Provide L2/L3 technical support for application and infrastructure teams.

• Liaise with vendors (Micro Focus/Rocket Software) for support, issue resolution, and product guidance.

• Participate in on-call rotations for production support.

Required Skills & Qualifications

• 7–10 years of hands-on experience administering Micro Focus and/or Rocket Software enterprise tools.

• Strong proficiency in:

a. Micro Focus Enterprise Server / Enterprise Developer / COBOL environments

b. or Rocket Software tools (Rocket Terminal, Rocket Enterprise Automation, Rocket Modernization tools)

• Deep understanding of Windows/Linux server environments.

• Experience with scripting languages (PowerShell, Bash, Shell, Python).

• Knowledge of CI/CD tools (Azure DevOps, Jenkins, GitLab, GitHub Actions).

• Familiarity with enterprise monitoring tools (Splunk, Dynatrace, Nagios, etc.).

• Strong expertise in troubleshooting, performance tuning, and platform optimization.

• Understanding of networking fundamentals, firewalls, and load balancing.

• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.

Preferred Qualifications

• Certifications in Micro Focus or Rocket Software (if applicable).

• Experience with cloud environments (Azure/AWS).

• Knowledge of legacy modernization or workload migration strategies.

• Exposure to ITIL processes (Incident, Problem, Change Management).
