Lead Quality Assurance Engineer
Lead QA Automation Engineer (Playwright) | up to £70,000 | London/Hybrid (2 days onsite)
High-traffic consumer web platform used by millions of users each month, currently modernising its technology stack with a strong focus on automation, faster releases, and engineering-led quality.
As a Lead QA Automation Engineer, you'll play a key role in shaping and executing an automation-first QA strategy. You'll work closely with Engineering, Product, and Delivery to embed quality throughout the development lifecycle while remaining hands-on with test automation and exploratory testing.
You'll take ownership of QA frameworks, tooling, and standards, balancing strategic leadership with direct technical contribution. The role also includes mentoring a Senior Automation Engineer and driving continuous improvement through metrics and post-incident analysis.
Tech Stack:
Playwright (TypeScript), GitHub Actions CI/CD, Allure, observability & infrastructure tooling
What you need:
- Experience as a Lead or Senior QA Automation Engineer in a lean or mid-sized environment
- Strong hands-on experience with Playwright or a modern web automation framework
- Solid background in CI/CD, test reporting, and analytics
- Confident in exploratory and manual testing of complex web applications
- Strong communication skills and an automation-first mindset
Working Setup:
Hybrid role, 2 days onsite per week (London-based)
