Senior Backend Engineer (Python, AI/LLMs)

Following impressive early traction and strong funding momentum, the company is now scaling rapidly and looking to hire a Senior Backend Engineer to play a key role in the evolution of its core platform.

The Opportunity

This is a senior-level engineering role focused on designing and scaling backend services that power a sophisticated digital marketplace. You’ll take ownership of key platform components and work across the full development lifecycle—from backend architecture through to frontend integration where required.

The environment is fast-paced and product-driven, with a strong emphasis on modern Python, distributed systems, and the practical application of AI/LLM technologies in production.

Key Responsibilities

• Architect and scale high-performance backend services using modern async Python frameworks
• Design robust data models and work extensively with PostgreSQL
• Build and deploy AI-powered features, including agent-based workflows and LLM integrations
• Deliver features end-to-end, contributing across backend, frontend, and infrastructure when needed
• Maintain high engineering standards across testing, observability, and system reliability
• Contribute to architectural decisions and technical strategy
• Work at pace in a team that ships frequently and iterates quickly

Required Experience

• 6+ years’ experience building production-grade backend systems in Python
• Strong expertise in async Python (e.g. FastAPI, asyncio, Pydantic)
• Advanced SQL and PostgreSQL skills, including schema design and performance optimisation
• Experience delivering LLM-powered features into production environments
• Familiarity with modern AI-assisted development tools (e.g. Cursor, Claude, or similar)
• Experience with Docker, CI/CD pipelines, and cloud platforms (Azure, AWS, or GCP)
• Willingness to work across the stack when required (TypeScript/React, infrastructure tooling)
• Strong communication skills and experience working in collaborative engineering teams

Desirable Skills

• Experience with agent orchestration frameworks (e.g. LangGraph, CrewAI, DSPy)
• Exposure to Azure services and infrastructure-as-code (Terraform or similar)
• Experience in multi-tenant SaaS environments
• Background in regulated industries such as FinTech or InsurTech
• Knowledge of temporal or event-driven data modelling
• Experience with document processing or data extraction pipelines
