Senior Software Engineer (Go) - Energy Trading & Renewable Storage - Up to £95k - Hybrid

Work at the intersection of trading, battery storage and renewable energy.

In this role you’ll be solving some of the biggest challenges for energy storage, modelling the performance of ‘grid-scale’ battery behaviour to allow Energy Traders to make decisions on when to discharge or harvest from the grid.

Although this is an engineering role first and foremost, you’ll have the chance to get involved in everything from system design, mentoring junior engineers and architectural decisions – eventually leading projects end to end.

You’ll have the mindset of a Senior Engineer, with a wider breadth of focus than your backlog and have the curiosity to look beyond the immediate problem in front of you to understand how it fits into a complex web of microservices.

This isn’t a role for someone who wants to stay in their lane, it’s a small company so you’ll need to be comfortable in ambiguity and a willingness to jump on problems when you see them – even if it’s outside of your primary focus.

You’ll primarily be using Go / Golang to develop backend services, however experience with any ‘typed language’ will enable you to succeed (C++, Java, Rust etc). The infrastructure is hosted on AWS, with databases built in Cassandra and Timescale – experience with these would be great, but not essential if your experience as an Engineer is well rounded.

This is a hybrid working set up, however if you can commute to the central London office for a minimum one day per week, you’ll be able to base yourself where you like.

If you are interested in the challenge, get in touch - no up to date CV required.
