Are you an enthusiastic Engineer looking to develop your career with a specialist engineering business? We're recruiting on behalf of an established company that designs and delivers innovative smoke control and ventilation systems across the UK.
This is an excellent opportunity to work on varied projects, taking responsibility for PLC programming, commissioning and fault finding both in the workshop and on customer sites. You'll play a key role in delivering reliable control systems while working alongside an experienced and supportive engineering team.
As a PLC Controls Engineer, your responsibilities will include:
- Developing PLC software to control smoke ventilation and car park ventilation systems.
- Programming control systems using digital and analogue inputs.
- Commissioning electrical control panels and ensuring systems operate as designed.
- Diagnosing and resolving wiring, circuit and programming faults.
- Carrying out on-site commissioning, testing and troubleshooting across the UK.
- Working closely with the engineering team to develop practical and innovative automation solutions.
- Ensuring all work complies with current industry regulations and standards.
- Travelling to customer sites throughout the UK, including occasional overnight stays.
We're looking for someone with:
- An ONC or HNC qualification in Electrical, Electronic or a related Engineering discipline.
- Experience programming PLCs or similar control systems.
- The ability to interpret technical requirements and translate them into functional control programs.
- Strong fault-finding and diagnostic skills covering electrical wiring, circuits and control panels.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
- A proactive, organised and professional approach to work.
- A full UK driving licence and willingness to travel nationwide.
It would be advantageous, but not essential, if you have:
- CSCS or SSSTS certification.
- Experience using AutoCAD or similar CAD software.
- Good knowledge of Microsoft Office, including Excel, Word and PowerPoint.
