AWS Security Architect (Financial Services Background)

Interim AWS Security Architect - Hybrid / Low Latency Platform Robert Half is supporting a global consulting firm in engaging an experienced AWS Security Architect as an interim associate to support a large-scale platform re-architecture programme within a major financial services organisation. This role is focused on designing security architecture for a hybrid AWS environment (AWS Outposts + on-premise infrastructure), supporting the transformation of a global, low-latency data platform into a containerised, cloud-aligned architecture. The Security Architect will work closely with platform, network and engineering teams to define and implement security controls across infrastructure, containers and data flows, with a strong focus on design, trade-offs and real-world application rather than tooling or governance alone.

Assignment Details:

• Start: c. 2-3 week onboarding lead time
• Location: Hybrid London. C. 1-2 days in the office in London p/week
• Contract Duration: Initial 6-month contract (strong likelihood of extension)
• Day Rate: £600 p/day+12.07% via PAYE (Employer's NI & tax deducted at source - no umbrella company admin fees)

Key Experience Needed:

• Strong experience as an AWS Security Architect within financial services (ideally banking or market data environments)
• Proven ability to design security controls across hybrid cloud (on-premise + AWS) environments
• Experience securing containerised platforms (EKS / Kubernetes) including workload isolation, service-to-service security and runtime considerations
• Strong understanding of network security and segmentation, including east-west vs north-south traffic and private connectivity (e.g. Direct Connect)
• Experience designing secure architectures for high-throughput / low-latency systems, balancing performance with security controls
• Ability to define security frameworks and controls at both high-level architecture and detailed design level

Desirable Experience:

• Exposure to AWS Outposts or similar hybrid cloud platforms
• Experience replatforming monolithic systems into containerised architectures
• Understanding of ransomware threats, system resilience and recovery design
• Familiarity with DevSecOps and infrastructure-as-code security practices
