Junior Data Quality Specialist
Robert Half Technology are assisting a market leading financial services organisation to recruit a Junior Data Quality Specialist on a 6-month contract basis. ASAP start. On-site working - London, 5 days per week.
Role
- The Junior Data Quality Specialist will be responsible for reviewing and validating transaction data to ensure accuracy, completeness, and consistency across internal systems.
- Work closely with business and sector teams to verify transaction details and resolve data discrepancies or loading errors.
- Review transaction data, verify calculation amounts, and build and validate payment schedules.
- Monitor daily control reports to identify unusual movements in transaction valuations, market data, and other key data points.
- Perform data cleansing and remediation activities across transaction and Client Relationship Management (CRM) data.
- Develop an understanding of underlying financial transactions, market conventions, payments, and valuations to identify and prevent data quality issues.
- Collaborate with internal modelling, analytics, technology, and business teams to investigate and resolve data-related issues.
- Liaise with internal stakeholders and clients to verify and clarify transaction and valuation information where required.
- Prepare, review, and distribute monthly valuation reports to clients.
- Contribute to process improvement initiatives, helping to enhance workflows, controls, and supporting technology.
- Develop SQL skills and assist with creating database queries to support data quality, reporting, and control activities.
- Participate in ad hoc projects focused on improving processes, solving operational problems, and strengthening data integrity.
Profile
- The Junior Data Quality Specialist will have experience in operations, data quality, data management, financial services, or a similar analytical environment; experience within derivatives is beneficial but not essential.
- Strong interest in data quality, data management, controls, and process improvement.
- Good understanding of Microsoft Excel, with strong numerical and analytical skills.
- Experience with SQL and/or VBA is advantageous but not essential.
- Excellent attention to detail, accuracy, and organisational skills.
- Strong problem-solving and analytical abilities, with the confidence to investigate discrepancies and resolve issues.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to work effectively with both business and technical stakeholders.
- Ability to multitask, independently prioritise workloads, and work effectively within time-sensitive operational environments.
- Willingness to learn complex financial products and develop subject matter expertise through structured training and on-the-job experience.
- Comfortable working additional or non-standard hours around month-end and quarter-end where required.
