Management Accountant

A growing and established multi-site UK organisation is looking for an experienced Management Accountant to join its Finance team.

This is a key role within the business, offering the opportunity to take ownership of significant areas of management accounting while working closely with Finance, Operations, IT and senior stakeholders across the organisation.

The successful candidate will play a central role in the preparation of monthly management accounts, financial reporting, variance analysis and reconciliations, while also providing commercial insight and helping to improve financial processes and controls.

The Role

Reporting to the Head of Management Accounts, you will be responsible for supporting the end-to-end monthly management accounts process, ensuring financial information is accurate, timely and provides meaningful insight to the wider business.

You will also take ownership of the management accounting and reporting for one of the organisation's key business divisions, giving you exposure to a broad range of accounting areas and the opportunity to work closely with senior stakeholders.

This would suit a qualified accountant who enjoys a varied role combining technical accounting, management reporting, analysis and business partnering.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare monthly management accounts across the Group, working alongside Assistant Management Accountants.

  • Produce and analyse P&L and balance sheet variance analysis, investigating significant movements and providing commentary.

  • Maintain weekly revenue data between operational and finance systems, completing reconciliations and checks to ensure accuracy.

  • Investigate discrepancies and work collaboratively with IT and operational teams to resolve issues.

  • Review monthly revenue accounting across multiple business divisions.

  • Prepare and review intercompany cross-charges.

  • Perform variance analysis against operational sales data.

  • Business partner with department leads to review P&L performance, cost management and opportunities for improvement.

  • Take responsibility for the end-to-end management accounting and reporting for a key business division.

  • Manage areas including provisions, trust-related accounting, cash flow reporting and trade account reconciliations.

  • Support the FP&A and Compliance functions with data for management and regulatory reporting.

  • Work closely with IT and Finance to review and improve financial systems, processes and interfaces.

  • Support year-end processes, including statutory accounts preparation, audit schedules and liaison with external auditors.

  • Support the Group Accountant with technical accounting requirements and changes relating to FRS 102.

  • Provide holiday cover across the Management Accounts team through effective cross-training.

  • Work with stakeholders across the organisation to ensure strong communication and collaborative working.

  • Support investment cases and ad hoc finance projects where required.

About You

We are looking for a qualified accountant with strong technical accounting knowledge and experience across both management and financial accounting.

You will be analytical, commercially aware and proactive, with the confidence to communicate financial information to stakeholders across the business.

You should be comfortable working independently while also being a collaborative team player.

Essential Experience

Desirable Experience

  • Experience using Oracle NetSuite.

  • Experience working within a multi-site organisation.

  • Experience of process improvement and systems optimisation.

  • Experience working in a business undergoing growth, change or continual improvement.
