Mandate Monitoring and Portfolio Guideline Compliance Analyst

On behalf of Protiviti, the global business consulting firm, we are looking to engage an interim Mandate Monitoring and Portfolio Compliance Analyst with expertise of rules migration into Aladdin.

We are seeking an experienced Aladdin Guideline Monitoring & BQL Coding Specialist to support a major asset management initiative focused on enhancing investment guideline oversight and migrating existing compliance rules into the Aladdin ecosystem. This is a one-year interim engagement beginning February 2026, based in the UK, with the possibility of extended remote work.

This role is ideal for someone who combines deep knowledge of investment guidelines with hands-on expertise in Aladdin's Compliance Workbench, Risk RADAR, and BQL development.

Key Responsibilities

1. Investment Guideline Monitoring & Interpretation

• Analyse, interpret, and translate investment management agreements (IMAs), fund prospectuses, and regulatory requirements into structured, testable compliance rules.
• Collaborate with portfolio managers, risk teams, and compliance officers to ensure accurate understanding of guideline intent and operational constraints.
• Identify gaps, ambiguities, or inconsistencies in existing guideline frameworks and propose improvements.

1. Aladdin Rule Development & BQL Coding

• Design, code, and implement compliance rules using BQL (BlackRock Query Language) within Aladdin's Compliance Workbench.
• Build custom BQL expressions to support complex rule logic, data transformations, and portfolio-level calculations.
• Optimise existing BQL code for performance, maintainability, and alignment with Aladdin best practices.
• Troubleshoot rule failures, data mismatches, and logic discrepancies by analysing BQL outputs and underlying datasets.

1. Migration of Existing Rules to Aladdin

• Lead the end-to-end migration of legacy compliance rules into the Aladdin platform.
• Map existing rule logic, datasets, and exception workflows to Aladdin's architecture.
• Validate migrated rules through structured testing, scenario analysis, and parallel-run comparisons.
• Document rule logic, dependencies, and testing outcomes to ensure auditability and long-term maintainability.

1. Cross-Functional Collaboration

• Work closely with technology teams, data management, and BlackRock support to resolve platform issues and ensure smooth deployment.
• Provide guidance and training to internal teams on BQL usage, rule interpretation, and Aladdin workflows.
• Participate in governance discussions around guideline implementation standards and rule-coding frameworks.

Required Expertise & Skills

• Strong knowledge of asset management, investment processes, and regulatory/investor guidelines.
• Hands-on experience with Aladdin (BlackRock), particularly:
  • Compliance Workbench
  • Risk RADAR
• Proficiency in BQL coding, including building custom queries and implementing complex rule logic.
• Minimum 4 years of relevant experience in investment compliance, risk management, or Aladdin rule development.
• Ability to translate qualitative guidelines into precise, testable, and scalable rule logic.
• Strong analytical, documentation, and communication skills.
