Senior Broadcast Design Authority (Video & IP) – Contract Role
Robert Half is supporting a global consulting firm in sourcing a Senior Broadcast Design Authority to lead a complex broadcast infrastructure site exit and migration programme. This is a senior, hands-on role requiring ownership of end-to-end design decisions across broadcast video and IP network environments.
Assignment Details
• Initial 3-month discovery phase with strong likelihood of extension through to May 2027
• Day rate c.£400–£450/day via umbrella
• Primarily remote with occasional on-site work in Hampshire (discovery phase)
Role Overview
You will act as the Lead Design Authority (LDA), responsible for analysing a complex, largely undocumented broadcast environment and defining the target architecture and migration strategy.
This includes ownership across:
• Discovery and service mapping
• Options analysis and target state design
• Migration approach and service transition
• Oversight through build and handover
Key Experience Required
• Proven experience acting as Design Authority / Lead Architect within broadcast environments
• Strong background in broadcast transmission, headend systems and video processing
• Hands-on experience with multiplexing, MPEG transport streams, encoding/decoding
• Experience across satellite, fibre and IP-based broadcast delivery chains
• Ability to analyse legacy, undocumented environments and define structured solutions
• Experience delivering end-to-end migration or transformation programmes
• Strong understanding of IP networking within broadcast environments (multicast, routing, transport)
• Ability to own and defend design decisions with senior stakeholders and architecture teams
Nice to Have
• Experience with Nimbra or similar broadcast transport technologies
• Exposure to cloud-based broadcast platforms (AWS/Azure)
