Lead Software Engineer - Risk Infrastructure Systems

Seeking a highly skilled software engineering leader to join a global Risk Infrastructure function. This role will focus on developing and maintaining enterprise-grade systems and applications that enable effective management, reporting, and governance of model risk across the organisation. The successful candidate will combine technical expertise in Python, Django, and modern web frameworks with a passion for delivering high-quality, scalable, and user-centric technology solutions.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and maintain Python-based applications and graphical user interfaces (GUIs) to support model risk infrastructure and analytics.

  • Integrate front-end components with Django-based back-end systems and RESTful APIs.

  • Develop responsive and intuitive user interfaces using React and related JavaScript frameworks.

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams; data engineers, UX designers, and infrastructure specialists-to deliver cohesive, reliable solutions.

  • Ensure application performance, scalability, and maintainability through best practices in coding, testing, and CI/CD.

  • Troubleshoot and resolve complex technical issues in both front-end and back-end systems.

  • Support ongoing enhancements to the model risk technology stack and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives.

Key Requirements
  • Advanced programming expertise in Python and proficiency in at least one additional language.

  • Proven experience building GUI applications using frameworks such as PyQt5 or PySide.

  • Hands-on experience with Django (ORM, REST framework, views, templates).

  • Strong background in React and modern front-end development (Redux, Hooks, etc.).

  • Experience working with Git, Docker, and cloud environments (AWS, Azure, or GCP).

  • Knowledge of SQL and relational databases (PostgreSQL, MySQL, or similar).

  • Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines, automated testing, and Agile development practices.

  • Understanding of RESTful APIs, modern UI/UX principles, and responsive design.

  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and debugging skills.
