Platform Engineer - Automation

About the Role

As a Platform Engineer, you'll play a key role in developing and maintaining automation pipelines and cloud infrastructure that support mission-critical services. You'll work closely with infrastructure, application, and security teams to identify opportunities for automation, design reusable solutions, and help embed best practices across the organisation.

You'll also act as a subject matter expert for infrastructure automation, supporting core cloud technologies and serving as an escalation point when needed.

Key Responsibilities
  • Collaborate with infrastructure and application teams to identify automation opportunities and design standardised delivery pipelines.

  • Develop, maintain, and document cloud solutions and infrastructure best practices.

  • Integrate firm-wide tools such as ServiceNow for provisioning services.

  • Build secure, modular cloud-based systems that align with best practices in cloud security.

  • Support and enhance tooling to improve consistency, compliance, and lifecycle management.

  • Act as an escalation point for IT Operations and work with vendors to test and evaluate new technologies.

  • Ensure BC/DR plans are documented, tested, and reviewed annually.

  • Foster collaboration with global IT teams, contributing to an automation centre of excellence.

What We're Looking For Qualifications & Experience
  • Bachelor's degree in a related field or equivalent experience.

  • 5+ years' experience in infrastructure automation and cloud engineering.

  • Proven experience delivering automation solutions from concept to deployment.

  • Experience working in a global organisation (preferred).

  • Microsoft Azure certification (preferred).

Technical Skills
  • CI/CD tooling and pipeline development

  • Terraform

  • Public cloud automation

  • Linux administration

  • Git version control, including GitHub and GitHub Actions (preferred)

  • PowerShell, Python, Ansible (preferred)

  • Private cloud technologies including VMware vSphere, Cisco UCS, Dell EMC, Cisco ACI, F5, Palo Alto (preferred)
