What you'll do:

As an Infrastructure Automation Engineer, you will immerse yourself in architecting innovative solutions for next-generation virtualisation infrastructure. Your day-to-day activities will involve hands-on work with VMware Cloud Foundation (VCF), Linux systems, Ansible automation frameworks, and proprietary configuration management tools. You will be responsible for designing automated workflows that enhance scalability and resilience across hybrid environments. By collaborating with stakeholders from various departments, you will ensure that every solution aligns with organisational goals for reliability and security. Your ability to integrate APIs will empower seamless interactions between on-premises resources and external platforms. Success in this role requires not only technical proficiency but also a commitment to maintaining clear documentation and contributing positively to team knowledge-sharing efforts. You will have the opportunity to lead testing initiatives for new technologies while supporting both legacy system upgrades and new deployments-making your impact felt across the entire technology landscape.

What you bring:

* Extensive experience automating infrastructure tasks such as installation, configuration, and management using Python scripting language within enterprise environments.* Proven hands-on expertise with automation frameworks like Ansible combined with practical knowledge of Infrastructure as Code methodologies.* Deep understanding of virtualisation technologies including VMware Cloud Foundation or vSphere gained through direct implementation or support roles.* Solid grasp of core technical fundamentals such as TCP/IP networking protocols, DNS administration, Linux operating systems, and distributed computing concepts.* Demonstrated ability to integrate APIs effectively for automating workflows across hybrid cloud or on-premises infrastructure stacks.* Familiarity with software version control systems (e.g., Git), CI/CD pipelines, and contemporary software development lifecycle practices.* Experience conducting lab-based testing for new hardware/software components prior to production rollout in large-scale environments.* Knowledge of software testing methodologies specifically applied to infrastructure automation projects is highly desirable.* Hands-on experience with additional programming languages such as Go, PowerShell or Bash would be advantageous for broadening automation capabilities.* Excellent interpersonal skills enabling effective collaboration within multidisciplinary teams focused on delivering shared outcomes.
