About the Software Developer role

We're building a next-generation ERP platform tailored for the fast-moving trading and import/export sector - covering stock control, logistics, customs workflows, purchasing, sales, and operational reporting. This is a rare opportunity to shape a system from the ground up and work directly with the teams who rely on it every day.

You'll be working onsite in Birmingham, embedded in the operational environment, giving you real-time access to warehouse, logistics, and trading teams. This is essential for understanding workflows, validating features, and delivering a system that genuinely improves efficiency.

What You'll Be Doing as the Software Developer
  • Building backend services using Python + Django or .NET Core

  • Developing a modern, responsive frontend using React

  • Designing and optimising relational data structures in PostgreSQL

  • Integrating with third-party systems (freight, customs, carriers, accounting)

  • Deploying and maintaining cloud infrastructure on AWS or Azure

  • Supporting future mobile app development using React Native

  • Working closely with operational teams to understand real-world processes and translate them into robust digital workflows

Required Skills & Experience
  • Strong experience with Python/Django or .NET Core

  • Solid understanding of REST APIs and modern frontend frameworks (React preferred)

  • Expereince with Google Appsheet
  • Experience with PostgreSQL or similar relational databases

  • Ability to work onsite daily in Birmingham

  • Comfortable collaborating with non-technical operational teams

  • Experience in logistics, warehousing, trading, or ERP systems is highly desirable

  • Experience with Java would be highly desirable

  • OR swap one weekday for Saturday if that suits your schedule better

  • Fully onsite due to the operational nature of the role
