Business Development Manager – Managed Services (Overlay Specialist)

The Role

This is a specialist overlay position focused on driving Managed Services and Professional Services adoption across an established portfolio. Rather than owning accounts or generating new business, you will work alongside Account Directors and Account Managers, enabling them to position, structure, and close services opportunities within the Charities & Housing vertical.

Key Responsibilities

  • Act as the subject matter expert for Managed Services and Professional Services across a large sales team
  • Equip, guide, and mentor 28 Account Managers in how to position, pitch, and qualify services opportunities
  • Join customer meetings as the services specialist, helping shape solutions and overcome objections
  • Influence pipeline development and steer opportunities toward appropriate services outcomes
  • Collaborate with delivery teams to ensure proposals and scopes accurately reflect capabilities
  • Drive sales enablement initiatives, including training, knowledge‐sharing, and process improvement
  • Contribute directly to achieving the team’s £1.6M services revenue target, influencing £1.5M of the number

What We’re Looking For

Essential

  • Strong understanding of Managed Services and/or Professional Services
  • Experience in an overlay, pre‐sales, sales enablement, or services specialist capacity
  • Comfortable influencing without direct ownership of accounts or personal quota
  • Strong communication, coaching, and stakeholder‐management skills
  • Ability to translate service capability into commercial value for customers and sellers

Advantageous

  • Experience working with public sector customers
  • Background within a services‐led technology provider or MSP
  • Based in Northern UK (preferred but not essential for exceptional candidates)

Working Model

  • Hybrid role, with weekly office presence preferred
  • Flexibility available for high‐calibre candidates (e.g., 1–2 visits per month)
