Information Governance Assistant Officer - Apprenticeship Opportunity
Job summary
The post-holder will support the Information Governance Team and work closely with the Information Governance Manager and other Information Governance staff in ensuring the Trust complies with its statutory obligations relating to Information Governance and Data Protection.
If you don't already have a Level 3 qualification or equivalent experience in a relevant subject, RDaSH are offering this post alongside the opportunity for you to complete a Level 3apprenticeship qualification [relevant to your role].
As an apprentice within RDaSH you will be given the opportunity to gain experience, learn work-related skills and obtain all the tools needed to thrive.
An apprenticeship includes regular training with a college or other training organisation. Around 20% of your working hours will be spent training or studying. This leads to a nationally recognised qualification.
Whether you already work for us or are joining the Trust and NHS for the first time, apprenticeships can help you to develop the skills, knowledge and know-how in order to embark on a successful and fulfilling career within the health service.
Main duties of the job
To support the provision of information, guidance and advice as required to the Trust regarding information governance matters as part of a wider Information Governance Team, which undertake the following functions:
- Subject Access Requests (SAR) under the Data Protection Act 2018
- Freedom of Information (FOI) requests under the FOI Act 2000
- Records management: archiving of records, including filing, tracking, and the correct application of destruction schedules
- Confidentiality and Caldicott support
- Data Security and Protection Toolkit (DSPT)
- Incident management
- Information risk management
- Information security
- Data protection duties

Person Specification
Qualifications
- Good standard of literacy and numeracy
- English and Maths at level 2 or equivalent (GCSE 9-4 or A*- C or functional skills level 2)
- NVQ level 2 or equivalent in a related subject
- NVQ level 3 in related subject or willingness to undertake a relevant Level 3 Apprenticeship
- Evidence of continuing professional development.
- Interest in Information Governance, Data Protection or Records Management.
- Relevant qualifications or training in Information Governance, Data Protection, Records Management or related subjects.
Experience
- Previous administrative or office experience.
- Experience supporting senior managers or teams.
- Experience of handling confidential information.
- Experience of managing and prioritising workload.
- Experience within the NHS or public sector.
- Experience within an Information Governance, Records Management or compliance environment.
Skills/ Abilities
- Excellent IT skills.
- Good written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to explain information clearly and sensitively
- Ability to review information, identify issues and seek appropriate advice where required.
- Able to communicate effectively using the English language in both verbal and written forms
- Ability to work autonomously and proactively.
- Good interpersonal and communication skills
- Good organisational skills
- Able to prioritise work effectively and deal with non-routine tasks under pressure
