Overview

Our Core Banking Technology team is responsible for the delivery, support, and maintenance of the bank’s core platforms across Payments, Risk, Lending, Customer Data, and Infrastructure. As part of continued expansion, we are seeking an experienced RPG Developer to help design, build, and maintain our core banking environment.

This role plays a key part in the organisation’s ongoing transformation, enhancing systems and processes that underpin a customer-focused, long-term approach to banking.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain core banking applications using RPG (both fixed and free format)
• Translate business requirements and solution architecture into detailed technical specifications and user stories
• Write clean, maintainable, and testable code in accordance with internal coding standards and development processes
• Troubleshoot, debug, and enhance existing applications to ensure high availability and performance
• Participate in Agile ceremonies and “Show and Tell” sessions with business and technical stakeholders
• Produce technical documentation, training material, and user guides for developed applications
• Collaborate with internal IT and business teams to define and deliver new features and integrations
• Operate within the organisation’s Risk Management and Compliance frameworks, escalating issues where appropriate
• Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives across development practices and system design

Ideal Candidate Profile

• Proven experience as an RPG Developer working on IBM i (AS/400, IBMi) platforms
• Strong command of fixed and free format RPG and efficient SQL (standalone and embedded)
• Hands-on experience with modern RPG techniques (modules, service programs, activation groups)
• Proficiency in IBM Rational Developer for i and understanding of the IBMi operating system
• Strong grasp of software design principles and structured development methodologies
• Collaborative team player with excellent communication and analytical skills
• Experience working in Agile environments
• BSc/BA in Computer Science or related field (MSc/MA desirable)
• Familiarity with development frameworks and standards used in financial institutions advantageous
• Experience with Citrix server administration or vulnerability management would be an asset
