Job summary

TheDelivery Manager is a key role inthe delivery of ourdigital strategy, shaping and managing high-profile,complexdigital transformation projects and programmes. The role is crucial for creatingandmaintainingfocus,enthusiasmand momentumfor their defined project areas, workingwith all teams within the Trust and the ICB.

The postholder will be expected to manage projectprogress andexpenditure, liaising with key stakeholders.Thisincludes ensuring alignment with financial planning and thecapital programme and the postholder will be expected tobe a lead contributor infunding bids and support the development of businesscases to exploit external funding opportunities. The roleinvolves working closely with colleagues in varying roles andseniority across the Trust, including clinicians and executivedirectors as well as the ICB. The postholder will also lead internal squads using Agile project management methods (e.g. Scrum and Kanban).

The postholder will be an expert at digital transformation, bringing a creative mindset to help design programmes which transform the way our staff work. They will be a specialist inAgileprojectmanagement, comfortable with working within PMO structures, and great atdelivering challenging data and information tovariousmembers of staff. The postholder willdemonstrateexcellent leadership and problem-solving skills,negotiationand facilitationskills.

Main duties of the job

  • Use specialist knowledge, consultancyskillsand experience to advise onDDATsolutions and guide staff on a course of action.

  • Coach and mentor both team members and others to apply the mostappropriate Agileand Lean tools and techniques

Main Responsibilities

  • To follow Trust Standing Financial Instructions.

  • To manage the budgetduring the course ofthe project/s.

  • To use specialist knowledge for developing specifications (Output Based Specifications) where a need for anDDATsolution isidentified. This will involve significant analytical work.

  • To developappropriate communicationplans and communicate at all levels within the organisation.

  • Tofacilitateor contribute to post implementation reviews.

  • To document the lessons learned from the implementations and communicate these to a wide range of staff (internal and external) either by presentation or formal report.

  • To use specialist knowledge to ensure thatDDATimplementations are carried outin accordance withchange management best practice.

Person Specification

Education

Essential
  • Educated to Masters Level or equivalent experience / qualifications
  • Evidence of Continuing Professional Development
  • Professional Scrum Master (PSM) I / AgilePM / Lean Six Sigma, or similar, or equivalent practical experience
  • Change management training
Desirable
  • Professional Scrum Master (PSM) II / Professional Agile Leadership or similar advanced project management qualification
  • Managing successful programmes (MSP) or ITIL certification
  • Process redesign training

Experience

Essential
  • Practical experience of designing and delivering digital transformation projects, ideally in the NHS or wider UK public sector
  • Practical experience delivering projects using an Agile Scrum or Kanban methodology
  • Experience of working independently and in a team orientated collaborative environment
  • Experience of budget management and forecasting or familiarity with project budget management and processes.
  • Experience of bringing together and managing people within a project management (matrix) structure.
  • Experience of bringing together and managing people within a project management (matrix) structure.
  • Experience of using Agile project management software (e.g. Jira, Trello, etc.)
Desirable
  • Experience acting as the point of contact for contracted suppliers
  • Change management experience with the ability to take a lead business change specialist role in digital projects

  • Examples of leading cross organisation team projects including senior clinical staff.
