Pathology Project manager

Job summary

Pathology services at Royal Cornwall Hospitals NHS Trust is looking for a project manager to join the team working alongside the Pathology transformation manager and senior management team to deliver a continued transformation journey.

This role will assist on a number of large scale Trustwide projects which directly impact Pathology Services and also directly control a number of projects within Pathology Services as well as promoting and assisting with delivery of quality improvement initiatives identified by individual Pathology disciplines.

Main duties of the job

It is the responsibility of the post-holder to use their skills, experience and subject matter expertise to implement, deliver and review projects after implementation against stated benefits.

Projects are undertaken in a structured manner in accordance with formal Project Management procedures (PRINCE 2 and Agile) and cover a wide range of disciplines including but not restricted to: Clinical systems; Business systems and Infrastructure.

Person Specification

Qualifications

Essential
  • oEducated to degree level or equivalent professional qualification or equivalent experience
Desirable
  • Hold a formal project management qualification (eg. PRINCE, APM, Agile)
  • General management MS Project Specialist

Experience

Essential
  • Demonstrate structured project management skills/experience including experience in managing change and leadership of project teams.
  • Significant relevant experience in health service or other major large-scale customer service-oriented organisation.
  • Demonstrate organising and prioritising multiple tasks and workloads and meeting deadlines
  • Experience in creating and managing project budgets
Desirable
  • NHS/health information experience
  • Experience in supplier management and contract negotiation

Practical and Intellectual skills

Essential
  • Demonstrate knowledge of project management procedures
  • Demonstrable capability of delivering projects on time, to an agreed quality and budget
  • Demonstrate good communications skills, verbally and written including strong presentation skills
  • Demonstrate complex problem solving and able to work independently across a broad group of staff
