Band 7 Data Analyst
Job summary
We have an exciting opportunity for a talented data analyst to join the NLPSS Reporting and systems team responsible forreporting, analytics and systems management and development required across the NLPSS service offering including but not limited to Recruitment and Occupational Health.
The shared service is continually developing, and this role will provide the successful candidate with the opportunity to help formulate our direction and strategy using their expertise and a can-do attitude.
We are looking for a proactive self-starter with excellent interpersonal skills willing to innovate and work collaboratively to meet service requirements.
The successful candidate will have proven delivery experience in a complex reporting and systems environment, ideally with experience of NHS employee systems like ESR, TRAC and G2, using advance Excel, SQL and Power BI alongside other tools to ensure optimal delivery of requirements.
Meticulous attention to detail, problem solving skills and a flexible approach to providing advice, guidance and training to improve data quality are essential.

Main duties of the role:
- Deliver business as usual reporting requirements to aid service delivery and monitor performance.
 
- Build dashboards and visualisations to bring data to life
 
- Deep dive into complex data sets to uncover trends, anomalies and insights
 
- Design and run experiments to test hypothesis and measure impact
 
- Drive data quality improvements working collaboratively with all colleagues across NLPSS, partners and external suppliers.
 
- Deputise for the Reporting and Systems lead as required.

Person Specification
Communication
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including delivery of presentations
 - Ability to communicate complex issues in a simplified way to meet audience requirements
 
Experience
- Working experience of NHS systems, ideally employee related such as TRAC, ESR and Occupational Health
 - Self starter, motivated, able to work from own initiative, flexible and responsive to change
 - Proven ability to produce and maintain accurate and timely regular and ad hoc reports to meet business requirements
 
- Project management qualification, Prince 2, MSP or other
 - Experience of working in a project matrix environment
 
Analytical
- Highly numerate with advanced knowledge and skills in all MS office applications including Excel
 - Proficient in formulation and development of analysis and visuals using SQL and power BI
 - Experience of conducting detailed analysis of complex data sets or processes to identify root causes and solutions
 - Demonstrable experience of sustaining meticulous attention to detail and accuracy
 
Qualifications
- Degree in Systems Analysis and Design/Computer Science or equivalent experience
