Job summary

The Digital Midwife plays a pivotal role in supporting the development, implementation, optimisation, and adoption of digital maternity systems across the Royal Free London NHS Foundation Trust. Combining advanced clinical midwifery expertise with digital and informatics knowledge, the post holder will work closely with clinical, operational, and digital teams to ensure that maternity information systems support safe, effective, and evidence-based care for women, babies, and families. The role provides both clinical and professional leadership, acting as a key link between frontline maternity services and digital transformation programmes, while championing innovation, service improvement, and the effective use of electronic patient records and digital maternity solutions.

Main duties of the job

The post holder will support the design, configuration, testing, implementation, and ongoing optimisation of the Trust's digital maternity solution, ensuring systems are clinically safe, user-friendly, and aligned with best practice. They will act as a super-user and subject matter expert, providing training, advice, and support to midwives, doctors, nurses, pharmacists, allied health professionals, and other system users to promote digital adoption and maximise system benefits.
