Band 8a Senior EPMA Pharmacist

Job summary

We are seeking an experienced and innovative Senior EPMA Pharmacist to join our Clinical Informatics team at Royal Free London NHS Foundation Trust . This exciting role offers the opportunity to lead the development, optimisation and governance of our Electronic Prescribing and Medicines Administration (EPMA) system, supporting safer, more effective and digitally enabled patient care across the Group.

The successful candidate will demonstrate significant experience and expertise in the technical and operational aspects of Electronic Prescribing and Medicines Administration (EPMA) within Oracle Health EPR. Candidates with additional experience in CareFlow EPMA will be preferred. They will have considerable experience leading and delivering organisation-wide EPMA initiatives and transformational projects, supported by extensive and current experience in a senior EPMA pharmacist role.

Main duties of the job

As Senior EPMA Pharmacist, you will:

Lead and support the development, configuration, testing and optimisation of the EPMA system.Provide expert clinical and digital leadership to ensure safe and effective electronic prescribing practices.Support the implementation of digital transformation initiatives and contribute to the Trust's Electronic Patient Record programme.Train, coach and support multidisciplinary staff in the use of EPMA systems.Monitor system performance, investigate incidents and contribute to clinical governance and risk management activities.Work collaboratively with clinicians and operational teams to design and implement innovative digital solutions that improve patient care.Act as an ambassador for EPMA and digital medicines optimisation across the organisation.

  • MPharm or equivalent Professional registration with the General Pharmaceutical Council (GPhC)
  • Postgraduate qualification in Clinical Pharmacy or Digital Health (or experience equivalent to)
  • Mandatory CPD to maintain fitness to practice.

Experience

Essential
  • Post registration experience in hospital clinical pharmacy and digital health.
  • Experience in IT and electronic prescribing systems
  • Extensive experience in configuration of Oracle Health/ Cerner Millennium
  • Experience in delivering formal education and training, on complicated subjects, to large groups.
  • Demonstrable experience in supervising others.
  • Demonstrable experience of co-ordinating and leading on audit.
  • Experience working across secondary care setting
