Infrastructure Engineer
Salary: £45,900 per year Contract type: Permanent Hours: 35 per week Location: Remote, UK based
We are seeking an Infrastructure Engineer to join our Information Security team within the Technology directorate. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in supporting IT infrastructure across physical, virtual, and cloud environments, with expertise in server administration, Active Directory, Microsoft Azure, and network/firewall technologies. You'll need to be organised, collaborative, and able to resolve complex technical issues, working both independently and as part of a wider team.
What you'll be doing
- Building, maintaining, and supporting servers, storage, virtual environments, and infrastructure services across the organisation.
- Providing 2nd and 3rd line support for infrastructure-related incidents and service requests, ensuring timely resolution.
- Administering core infrastructure platforms including Active Directory and Microsoft Azure.
- Managing network and firewall technologies (Cisco, Juniper, SonicWall).
- Maintaining infrastructure documentation, including the Configuration Management Database (CMDB).
- Monitoring infrastructure performance and availability, implementing improvements where needed.
- Collaborating with third-party vendors to ensure service quality and value for money.
- Contributing to infrastructure lifecycle planning, upgrades, and transformation initiatives.
- Working closely with colleagues across Technology Operations and other departments.
Experience you'll need to have:
- Relevant IT qualification or equivalent experience.
- Experience supporting IT infrastructure (physical, virtual, cloud-based systems).
- Strong knowledge of Active Directory, Microsoft Azure, and server administration.
- Experience with network and firewall technologies.
- Ability to manage and resolve complex technical issues.
- Familiarity with infrastructure monitoring, backup, and restoration processes.
- Strong organisational and prioritisation skills.
- Effective communication and collaboration skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
