The Opportunity:
We are looking for a detail-oriented and experienced Quality Assurance Engineer to become an integral part of our collaborative team. In this role, you will be pivotal in driving the creation of high-quality products by applying your strong understanding of testing methodologies and business processes. While some technical know-how, particularly around system integration via APIs, is required, this role leans heavily towards a manual testing approach with a strong emphasis on understanding the end-to-end product from a business perspective. You will be embedded within project teams, contributing to the design process and proactively driving quality improvements.
Key Responsibilities:
- Act as a key driver for change, proactively putting forward ideas and influencing the team towards building the right products.
- Develop a deep understanding of business processes by asking insightful questions of Subject Matter Experts (SMEs).
- Conduct thorough coverage testing to ensure all aspects of the product meet requirements.
- Perform comprehensive manual testing, ensuring the functionality, reliability, and usability of our software products.
- Gain an in-depth understanding of the "ins and outs" of projects, becoming a go-to person for quality-related knowledge.
- Take a business "birds-eye view" to ensure the product aligns with overall business objectives.
- Map user journeys to identify critical testing paths and ensure a seamless user experience.
- Collaborate closely within cross-functional teams, including designers, product managers, and developers, to understand requirements and contribute to the software design process.
- Identify, document, and track software defects meticulously, ensuring their timely resolution and communicating findings effectively to the development team.
- Contribute to improving testing processes and methodologies within the team.
- Analyze test results and communicate findings to relevant stakeholders.
- Ensure the quality and functionality of software releases.
- Apply your technical know-how to understand system integration points, particularly via APIs.
- Utilize your database knowledge to perform data validation testing.
- Maintain an up-to-date understanding of software testing best practices.
Qualifications:
- Proven experience (4+ years) as a Systems Tester, Quality Assurance Tester, Software Tester, or Manual Tester.
- A strong understanding of software QA methodologies, tools, and processes.
- Experience with test management tools (e.g., JIRA, X-Ray).
- Demonstrable experience working within cross-collaboration teams (designers, product managers, developers).
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with keen attention to detail.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, 1 with the ability to articulate ideas and influence stakeholders.
- Must be vocal and comfortable putting forward ideas and constructively challenging the status quo.
- Ability to work independently and proactively, as well as collaboratively within a team environment.
- Business savvy with an understanding of how software products impact business outcomes.
- Entrepreneurial skills and a proactive approach to identifying and driving improvements.
- Experience with API testing tools (e.g., Postman).
- Ideally, some database knowledge and experience with data validation testing (e.g., SQL, DynamoDB).
- Knowledge of end-to-end product testing.
Nice to Have:
- Familiarity with GitLab for release management.
- Experience with other API testing tools.
- Experience with CRM systems (ideally Kraken or Salesforce).
- Familiarity with AWS.
- Experience with request mocking and intercept tools.
Interview Process:
- Stage 1: Competency-based interview with technical questions surrounding your experience.
- Stage 2: Testing scenario to assess your practical testing skills and approach.
