Senior Digital Developer / Senior Software Engineer

Contract: 12 Months

Rate: Up to £750/day Umbrella

Location: London, Manchester, Birmingham, Cardiff, or Darlington (Hybrid – 2 days per week onsite)

We are seeking an experienced Senior Digital Developer to join a large-scale digital transformation programme. This role is ideal for a hands-on software engineer who enjoys building robust, scalable services and leading the delivery of high-quality software solutions in complex environments.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, test, and maintain secure, scalable software applications.
  • Write clean, reusable, and well-documented code following test-driven development principles.
  • Lead the development and delivery of complex features and services.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to understand business and user requirements.
  • Support production systems and contribute to service reliability, resilience, and performance improvements.
  • Identify and resolve technical issues, defects, and system faults.
  • Review solution designs and ensure appropriate technology choices and integration approaches.
  • Coordinate integration activities and support end-to-end testing.
  • Embed security considerations throughout the software development lifecycle.
  • Drive continuous improvement and contribute to engineering best practices.

Required Skills & Experience

  • Strong experience in software engineering and application development.
  • Proven ability to design and deliver secure, scalable, and maintainable systems.
  • Experience working in agile, multidisciplinary delivery teams.
  • Strong understanding of software architecture, system integration, and modern development practices.
  • Experience with automated testing and test-driven development.
  • Ability to troubleshoot and resolve complex technical issues.
  • Experience reviewing technical designs and providing technical leadership.
  • Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.

Desirable

  • Experience working on large-scale digital transformation programmes.
  • Knowledge of cloud-native technologies and modern engineering practices.
  • Experience operating and supporting live production services.

Additional Information

  • Initial 12-month contract with strong extension potential.
  • Hybrid working model with 2 days per week in the office.
