Level 3 Engineering Technician Apprenticeship

This is a great opportunity to join SJB Precision Engineering, a small but successful company, offering CNC milling and turning to a range of industries including, motorsport, aerospace, defence and the TV industry. As SJB's apprentice you will learn from their experienced staff the basics all the way through to the most complex of machining parts.

Role

In this exciting role, you will gain valuable experience in all aspects of materials, tools and set up of the associated machines, whilst working alongside SJB's supportive team.

As the Engineering Technician Apprentice you will:

  • Work alongside SJB’s experienced employees learning full programming of CNC controls.
  • Practice and apply safe systems of working.
  • Learn the basics all the way through to the most complex of machining parts. This will include use of materials, tools and setups of the associated machines.
  • Make a technical contribution to either the design, development and quality assurance.
  • Learn how to set and programme the machinery and even move on to programme using our cad/cam systems.
  • Apply proven techniques and procedures to solve engineering/manufacturing problems.
  • Demonstrate effective interpersonal skills in communicating both technical and non-technical information.
  • Have a commitment to continued professional development.

Training

As well as on the job training working alongside members of the SJB team, the successful candidate will attend Newbury College one day per week during term time. They will also complete regular reviews with their development coach from Newbury College.
On completion they will achieve the Level 3 Machining Technician Apprenticeship Standard. 

As this is a Level 3 Apprenticeship it would be beneficial for applicants to already have some experience of manual milling & turning. 

Please be aware, If you have not achieved GCSE grade 4 in English and/or maths you will be required to take Level 2 Functional Skills as part of your Apprenticeship.

  • On successful completion of the Level 3 Engineering Apprenticeship you would be offered a permanent role within the business to build a long standing career in precision engineering.
