Digital Project Manager

About the role

SmartCo Future Health is looking for an experienced Digital Project Manager to support NHS digital transformation programmes.

Important: We can only consider applicants with proven NHS experience. If you have not worked within the NHS, or delivered into the NHS in a project management capacity, unfortunately your application will not be progressed.

This role will focus on leading the day-to-day delivery of digital projects, working closely with Trust stakeholders, delivery teams and suppliers to ensure programmes are well managed, well governed and moving forward at pace.

The role is expected to be hybrid, with on-site attendance at the Trust as required, depending on programme needs.

Proven NHS experience is essential for this hire. Experience of delivering digital transformation or EPR-related programmes within the NHS would be highly advantageous.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the day-to-day delivery of digital projects and workstreams within NHS environments
  • Develop and maintain clear project plans, milestones and delivery trackers to support successful programme execution
  • Coordinate activity across Trust stakeholders, internal teams and third-party suppliers, ensuring alignment throughout the project lifecycle
  • Manage project governance including risks, issues, dependencies, decisions and reporting
  • Support planning and mobilisation activity, helping to set projects up for effective delivery from the outset
  • Drive actions forward, escalating where needed and maintaining momentum across competing priorities
  • Work closely with operational, clinical and technical stakeholders to support delivery in complex environments
  • Contribute to testing, readiness and go-live planning where required
  • Support project reporting, status updates and governance papers for programme boards and wider stakeholders
  • Help ensure projects are delivered in a structured, practical and collaborative way, with a clear focus on outcomes

Essential:

  • Proven experience working as a Project Manager within the NHS
  • Demonstrable experience delivering digital, transformation or technology-enabled change programmes in healthcare settings
  • Strong understanding of NHS environments, governance and stakeholder landscapes
  • Excellent verbal, written and organisational skills
  • Strong stakeholder management skills, with the ability to build credibility and maintain progress across a wide range of audiences
  • Confident managing plans, RAID logs, actions, reporting and delivery governance
  • Able to work at pace while maintaining attention to detail and a high standard of delivery
  • NHS experience is required applications without NHS experience will not be considered

Desirable:

  • Experience supporting EPR, clinical systems, operational systems or wider digital transformation programmes
  • Experience working across programme mobilisation, delivery, go-live
  • Familiarity with NHS supplier environments and multi-stakeholder delivery models
