The candidate will be responsible for maintaining quality inspection standards and quality inspection activities.

Role

Role and responsibilities:

  • Read, understand and work from engineering drawings
  • Analysis, problem solving and improvement of assembly and machining processes
  • Production release of machined parts; provision of guidance on adjustments needed
  • COSMOS programming and operation of 3CMM machines
  • Programming and operation of functional test rigs for assemblies
  • Programming and operation of GOM 3D scanner
  • Calibration of all measurement equipment, and work with external calibration suppliers as needed
  • Production support and guidance on wide range of quality issues
  • Use of various measuring equipment
  • Investigation, analysis, and sample measurements on a variety of components, tools and gauges
  • Customer claim root cause analysis and supplier component technical support
  • Maintain quality and production standards and inspections, including understanding products and vehicle functionality
  • Working to company procedures and policies

Training

You will study on a Level 3 Engineering Technician standard on a Technical Support Technician pathway. On completion of this, you will gain a qualification in Engineering at Advanced Level 3.

During the first year of the apprenticeship, your learning will take place at the University of Sheffield’s AMRC Training Centre based at Catcliffe, Rotherham, for an initial block of study on a full-time basis

After this, you will attend the Training Centre for one day a week for knowledge study.

Completion of the University of Sheffield’s AMRC Training Centre apprenticeships are nationally recognised qualifications which are acknowledged and respected by employers across the world. These can open the door to many more opportunities, such as Engineering Management and Project Engineering positions across a range of sectors worldwide.
