Software Test Engineer – 12 months + contract – Outside IR35

Software Test Engineer required for an initial 12-month Outside IR35 contract. Software testing must align with the Quality and Project Plan, agile practices, and general industry best practise.

You will be responsible for the analysis of requirements, detailed test case design, execution, regression, and raise discrepancies for our clients’ products. Project is to deliver multiple software releases during 2026 and 2027.

SERVICES

• Analyse the requirements, estimate them.
• Converting system requirements into test cases.
• System testing of software components.
• Participating in Agile ceremonies. Collaborating with a cross functional Agile team to implement and support a software project.
• Use of Microsoft Teams as video call tool.

DELIVERABLES

• Analyse technical concepts to plan and design tests
• Support the delivery of approved Test Plans when required
• Design, log and execute test cases for all assigned technical concepts or ideas and share specific measurements where required
• Design, log and execute manual tests for the manual regression test suite
• Write and execute automated test scripts for any required automated regression test suite
• Use hardware and firmware test rigs to test all ideas and concepts.
• Conduct System and subsystem integration testing on integrated hardware and software systems
• Log & report errors and issues when found
• Retest fixed errors and issues
• Where required deliver a live test status dashboard, test metrics, test results, and the final test summary report

NEED TO HAVE

Minimum 5+ years’ experience in the software development arena. Experience working with ISTQB approach and standard.

EXPERIENCE

• The creation and execution of system integration (end-to-end), regression and non-functional tests (e.g. performance).

• A range of tools supporting automated testing, including Windows UI testing

• Testing complex systems built using modern programming languages.

• Working in environments where regular builds, unit tests and software integration testing are the norm. Candidate able to contribute to these activities.

• System fault-finding, diagnosing to hardware or software subsystem level.

• Using version control, change control and code quality control processes.

• Using test management or ALM tools to design, execute and maintain test cases (examples – TFS, Jira, Siemens Polarion, MS Test manager, HP Quality Centre/ALM).

• Using defect management tools to raise, monitor and retest defects general computer and peripheral configuration, and common mechanisms for computer communication and control over external components.
