Laboratory Technician Apprentice
Join Sensor Coating Systems as a Level 3 Laboratory Technician Apprentice and gain hands-on experience in scientific testing, data analysis, laboratory operations, and advanced temperature mapping technologies while working alongside industry-leading scientists and engineers.
Role
As a Laboratory Technician Apprentice, you will support scientific projects and laboratory operations while developing valuable technical skills in a cutting-edge science and engineering environment.
You will:
- Assist with laboratory testing, scientific investigations and experiments.
- Prepare samples and support heat treatment processes.
- Carry out wet chemical activities, including paint manufacture.
- Learn specialist coating techniques used on industrial components.
- Operate and maintain laboratory equipment and instruments.
- Collect, analyse and record scientific data.
- Support stock control and laboratory organisation using 5S principles.
- Follow health and safety procedures at all times.
- Use software including Microsoft Office, LabView and scientific data analysis tools.
- Assist the technical team with research, development and customer projects.
Training
Training will be delivered through a combination of workplace learning and off-the-job training. You will attend weekly live online training sessions with The S&A Academy, supported by regular 1-to-1 coaching from a dedicated skills coach.
Alongside the formal apprenticeship programme, Sensor Coating Systems will provide extensive hands-on training in laboratory techniques, scientific testing, sample preparation, heat treatment processes, specialist coating applications, data analysis, laboratory equipment calibration, and health and safety procedures.
You will also gain exposure to advanced technologies including optical measurement systems, scientific software, automated data acquisition systems, and research and development projects within the aerospace, automotive, and power generation sectors.
