Job Title: AV Technical Designer
Location: St Albans / Hybrid
Salary: £45,000 - £50,000 per annum
Overview
The AV Technical Designer plays a pivotal role in delivering detailed technical drawings, comprehensive system documentation, and providing post-sales design support. This role ensures the creation and maintenance of accurate design packages throughout the project lifecycle to guarantee smooth and successful delivery.
Key Responsibilities
- Produce detailed audiovisual system drawings, including schematics, layout plans, Mechanical & Electrical (M&E) drawings, rack layouts, and cable schedules
- Conduct thorough site surveys to define project scope and gather essential technical information
- Develop and review post-sales design documentation to support project execution
- Update and amend drawings promptly in response to project changes
- Compile accurate kit lists and assist with procurement and material ordering processes
- Obtain and manage necessary project documentation from main contractors
- Provide product demonstrations when required
- Attend occasional site meetings to facilitate effective project coordination
- Collaborate closely with the Commercial Director and project teams to ensure alignment and delivery excellence
- Ensure all design outputs meet client specifications and conform to AV industry best practises
Experience and Skills
- A minimum of 3 years’ experience in audiovisual design
- Proficiency in AutoCAD, Visio, or comparable design software
- Sound understanding of corporate AV systems, including meeting rooms, digital signage, and AV routing
- Working knowledge of control platforms such as Crestron, AMX, Extron, or equivalent
- Ability to accurately interpret scopes of work and construction documentation
- Exceptional attention to detail with excellent documentation and communication skills
- Full UK driving licence
- Right to work in the UK
