The Role
You'll be responsible for the preparation, testing, maintenance and quality control of professional RF and microphone equipment for prestigious live and broadcast events in the UK and worldwide. You'll work closely with the Head of Department to ensure equipment and systems are prepared accurately and ready for deployment within strict deadlines.
Duties
- Preparing, testing and maintaining professional RF and microphone equipment.
- Bench testing RF equipment using spectrum analysers and RF generators, including cable testing.
- Ensuring equipment is fully functional and running the latest firmware.
- Preparing and building RF racks and systems.
- Working with the Head of Department to ensure equipment has the correct settings and frequencies.
- Carrying out RF performance and audio testing before equipment leaves the warehouse.
- Preparing and de-preparing equipment for live and broadcast projects.
- Ensuring equipment prepared for projects matches job specifications with 100% accuracy.
- Checking returning equipment against outgoing equipment and reporting any missing or damaged items.
- Preparing, testing, cleaning and completing quality control checks on equipment.
- Ensuring equipment is correctly packaged, documented and delivered within required timelines.
- Loading and unloading trucks when required.
- Liaising with Operations, Prep/De-prep and Warehouse teams to meet project requirements and deadlines.
- Maintaining clean, organised and tidy RF and microphone preparation areas.
- Ensuring equipment requiring PAT testing is up to date.
- Providing technical support to warehouse staff, apprentices and freelance crew.
- Providing guidance and training to apprentices within the department.
- Collaborating with the Comms & Data Services department to share technical knowledge.
- Attending site when required.
Requirements
- Good understanding of professional audio equipment, RF systems and microphones.
- Hands-on experience working with audio systems.
- Strong technical knowledge with a logical and systematic approach to troubleshooting.
- Ability to work accurately to strict deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
- Strong organisational and communication skills.
- Ability to build effective working relationships across different departments.
- Comfortable working under pressure and occasionally working extended hours.
- A strong interest in the technical and operational side of the professional audio industry.
- Proactive, ambitious and team-focused approach to work.
