Sales Data & Insights Analyst
Birmingham (Head Office) - 4 days per week in an office. You will also be expected to travel to other offices occasionally.
£58,000 + £6,800 Car Allowance
The Opportunity
A leading UK distribution business is looking to appoint a Data & Insights Analyst to work closely alongside the National Sales Director and wider sales leadership team.
This is a highly visible role where you will become the go-to person for sales reporting, commercial analysis and performance insight across the business.
The role goes well beyond producing reports.
The successful individual will help sales leaders understand performance, identify opportunities, challenge assumptions and provide actionable insight that supports revenue growth, customer retention and commercial decision-making.
Key Responsibilities
Sales Performance & Commercial Insight
- Analyse sales performance across customers, products, sectors and regions.
- Identify trends, opportunities and risks across the customer base and sales pipeline.
- Support senior sales leadership with forecasting, performance tracking and commercial analysis.
- Provide insight into customer behaviour, product mix, revenue trends and account performance.
- Track performance against targets and strategic objectives.
- Deliver clear recommendations and actions rather than simply reporting numbers.
Reporting & Power BI
- Develop and maintain Power BI dashboards and sales reporting packs.
- Build intuitive, user-friendly reporting that supports adoption and decision-making.
- Own reporting and dashboard development across the sales function.
- Work with multiple data sources to create a trusted view of commercial performance.
- Support the ongoing development of reporting standards and best practice.
Stakeholder Engagement
- Act as a trusted analytical partner to senior sales leadership.
- Attend sales meetings and leadership reviews where required.
- Translate business questions into analytical solutions.
- Present findings and recommendations to both technical and non-technical audiences.
- Help embed a more insight-led culture across the commercial organisation.
Continuous Improvement
- Identify opportunities to improve reporting processes and sales visibility.
- Support better use of customer, product and sales data across the business.
- Help create a more proactive and data-driven sales culture.
What We're Looking For
- Experience within a Sales Analyst, Commercial Analyst, Revenue Analyst or Data & Insights role.
- Someone who is able to read data and spot/analyse, trends, anomalies and opportunities.
- Strong Power BI reporting and dashboard development capability.
- Experience with DAX, data modelling and combining data from multiple sources.
- Ability to work end-to-end from data extraction through to business recommendation.
- Strong commercial awareness and analytical thinking.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
- Experience within a B2B environment would be highly advantageous.
- Experience analysing sales performance, customer activity, pricing, margin or commercial KPIs. Highly advantageous
Location & Travel
The role is primarily based from the West Midlands head office.
There will be occasional travel to other sites to support stakeholder engagement and gain a deeper understanding of local commercial activity.
Travel is expected to be relatively infrequent and will typically average less than once per week.
