Our client is looking for an experienced Senior / Principal Python Developer to help build high-performance systems that power investment decisions, analytics, and portfolio operations.

The Opportunity

Be part of a cross-functional engineering team working closely with quants, data scientists and portfolio managers to design, build and optimise analytical tools, data platforms and trading applications. This is a highly technical role with scope to influence architecture, mentor engineers and raise the bar on engineering standards.

What You’ll Do

• Design, develop and maintain scalable Python applications supporting investment and analytics workflows.
• Translate complex financial requirements into elegant, maintainable code in partnership with business and quant teams.
• Lead on performance tuning, code quality, testing, and CI/CD practices.
• Improve latency, reliability and observability of data-driven processes.
• Contribute to modernising legacy systems towards cloud-native, distributed architectures.

What We’re Looking For

• Strong expertise in Python (typically 6+ years) building production-grade software in financial services, trading or data-intensive domains.
• Solid grasp of data structures, algorithms and software design .
• Experience with cloud platforms ( AWS/Azure ), distributed data platforms or data warehouses.
• Familiarity with quantitative analysis, risk models or front-office systems is advantageous.
• Proven track record of leading projects or mentoring engineers.
• A pragmatic, test-first mindset and great collaboration skills.
