Help shape the future of SGN
We’re embarking on a major, multi-year Property Transformation Programme that will change the way our people work and how our estate supports the organisation for years to come.
This is much more than a property programme. It brings together property, workplace, technology, cyber security, operational resilience and organisational change across a complex and highly regulated business.
We’re looking for an experienced Programme Director to take overall leadership of the programme, bringing together multiple workstreams, senior stakeholders and delivery partners to turn an ambitious strategy into a successful transformation.
You’ll have significant ownership and visibility, working closely with our Executive team and senior leaders across SGN to ensure the programme delivers against its strategic, financial and operational objectives, while protecting the resilience of our Critical National Infrastructure (CNI) throughout.
Here’s how you’ll contribute:
- Take overall accountability for the successful delivery of a major, multi-year property transformation programme, from mobilisation through to implementation and benefits realisation.
- Bring together property, workplace, technology, cyber, operational and people change workstreams into one integrated programme.
- Establish a clear programme strategy, roadmap and delivery plan, ensuring priorities, dependencies and critical milestones are understood and actively managed.
- Provide strong leadership across a large, multidisciplinary programme team, creating clarity, pace and collaboration across internal teams and external partners.
- Build trusted relationships with Executive and senior stakeholders, providing clear insight into programme performance, risks, decisions and priorities.
- Establish robust governance, programme controls and assurance to support effective decision-making and maintain confidence in delivery.
- Take ownership of programme financials, ensuring strong commercial control, accurate forecasting and effective management of a significant multi-year investment.
- Lead relationships with key suppliers, consultants and delivery partners, ensuring commercial arrangements support successful programme outcomes.
- Identify and manage programme-wide risks, issues and dependencies, particularly where changes could impact operational resilience, security or CNI.
- Ensure business continuity remains at the heart of delivery, with changes carefully planned to minimise disruption to our people, customers and operations.
- Work closely with change and communications teams to ensure colleagues are engaged throughout the transformation and prepared for new locations, workplaces, technology and ways of working.
- Maintain a strong focus on outcomes and benefits, ensuring the programme delivers sustainable value rather than simply completing individual projects.
What you’ll need
We’re looking for an established Programme Director who has successfully led large-scale, complex transformation programmes, ideally involving significant property, workplace or infrastructure change.
You’ll bring:
- A strong track record of leading major, multi-million-pound transformation programmes, ideally within a large and complex organisation.
- Experience delivering significant property, estate, workplace or infrastructure transformation, involving multiple interconnected workstreams.
- Experience operating within a regulated, infrastructure, utilities or Critical National Infrastructure environment would be highly advantageous.
- Strong programme leadership skills, with experience bringing together property, technology, operational and organisational change.
- Excellent commercial and financial management capability, including oversight of substantial programme budgets, forecasting and investment.
- Experience managing major suppliers, consultants and strategic delivery partners.
- A strong understanding of programme governance, assurance, risk management and executive reporting.
- The ability to work confidently with Executive and Board-level stakeholders, translating complex programme information into clear decisions and recommendations.
- Experience leading large, multidisciplinary teams through complex and high-profile change.
- Strong judgement and the ability to balance transformation ambition with operational resilience, risk and regulatory requirements.
Above all, you’ll be someone who can bring structure to complexity, create confidence with senior stakeholders and build momentum across a programme involving many different teams, priorities and dependencies.
This is a rare opportunity to lead one of SGN’s most significant transformation programmes and have a lasting impact on how and where our people work.
You’ll have the opportunity to shape the programme, influence at the highest levels of the organisation and work with teams across the business to create workplaces and ways of working that support SGN’s future.
We offer a competitive salary and benefits package, alongside flexible benefits including a competitive pension scheme, enhanced maternity and paternity pay, life assurance, HolidayPlus and Cycle2work.
If you’ve led complex transformation at scale and enjoy bringing people, strategy and delivery together, we’d love to hear from you.
