Role
Roles & Responsibilities
- Maintaining electrical and control systems on site
- Design, build and install control panels that will integrate into new and existing plant and equipment
- Working on complex hydraulic and pneumatic systems across site
- Calibration of instrumentation
- PLC Programming control and automation principles/SCADA System, Siemens, Opto22, Eurotherm
- Ability to read, diagnose and understand any control electrical drawings and documentation to complete fault finding diagnosis
- Understanding of hydraulic and pneumatic systems
- Ability to carry out electrical testing and networking
- Understanding of panel building and using hand tools (drill, saw, jigsaw etc)
- Complete cable installation including conduit, glanding, termination and tray work
- Capable of using calibration equipment, use of database, documentation and relevant works operating procedure
- To adhere to Health and Safety rules and regulations
Training
You will study on a Level 3 Engineering Technician standard on a Mechatronics Maintenance Technician pathway. On completion of this, you will gain a qualification in Engineering at Advanced Level 3.
During the first year of the apprenticeship, your learning will take place at the University of Sheffield’s AMRC Training Centre based at Catcliffe, Rotherham, for an initial block of study on a full-time basis. After this, you will attend the Training Centre for one day a week for knowledge study.
Completion of the University of Sheffield’s AMRC Training Centre apprenticeships are nationally recognised qualifications which are acknowledged and respected by employers across the world. These can open the door to many more opportunities, such as Engineering Management and Project Engineering positions across a range of sectors worldwide.
