We are supporting a major defence programme seeking an exper ienced Linux Software E ngineer to join a high-performing engineering team developing and supporting complex software systems in a secure environm ent in Greater Man c
hester.
This role is ideal for an engineer with a strong Linux background who enjoys working across software development, infrastructure, automation and system integration. You'll contribute to the design, development, deployment and support of large-scale distributed software systems operating within mission-critical envir
onments.
KEY RESPONSI
- BILITIES:Develop, deploy and support software solutions on Linux-based p
- latforms.Troubleshoot operating system, infrastructure and application-leve
- l issues.Design and maintain automation and scripting solutions using Bash, Shell an
- d Python.Support software build, integration and deployment ac
- tivities.Work with configuration management and software development tools such as Git, Jenkins
- and Jira.Collaborate with multidisciplinary engineering teams to deliver software to cost, quality and schedule requ
- irements.Support software testing, debugging, integration and verification ac
- tivities.Contribute to technical documentation, engineering reviews and continuous improvement ini
tiatives.
ESSENTIAL SKILLS & E
- XPERIENCE:Minimum 5 years' commercial experience in Linux engineering or software de
- velopment.Strong Linux administration and troubleshooting experience, ideally within RHEL (Red Hat Enterprise Linux) env
