We are looking for an experienced Installations Engineer (Qualified Electrician) to join our growing team. This is an exciting opportunity to work on innovative energy-saving projects, installing and commissioning a wide range of electrical systems for commercial and industrial customers.
The Role
Based from our Chippenham office, this role involves travelling to customer sites throughout Wiltshire and across the UK. Approximately % of the role will require overnight stays.
You will be responsible for installing, programming, testing, and commissioning electrical systems and equipment, working independently or as part of a team to deliver projects safely, efficiently, and to a high standard.
Key Responsibilities
Installation & Commissioning
- Install, modify, test, and commission:
Energy monitoring systems
Sensors and actuators
Three-phase motors, pumps, VSDs/VFDs
Solar PV systems
Battery storage systems
- Inspect and test installations to ensure compliance with BS7671 (18th Edition) and client specifications.
- Complete electrical modifications and commissioning activities to meet project requirements.
Programming & Fault Finding
- Program, test, and commission energy-saving equipment.
- Diagnose and resolve faults on electrical systems, motors, drives, and associated equipment.
- Interpret electrical schematics and technical drawings to support installation and troubleshooting.
Project Delivery
- Carry out site risk assessments.
- Work independently or lead small installation teams.
- Supervise and mentor junior engineers where required.
- Liaise with Project Managers and customers to ensure projects are delivered safely, on time, and to specification.
Health, Safety & Compliance
- Ensure all work complies with current electrical regulations and company procedures.
- Maintain accurate commissioning records and installation documentation.
- Promote safe working practices at all times.
Essential Requirements
- NVQ Level 3 (or equivalent) in Electrotechnical Installation.
- AM2 qualification.
- Minimum 5 years' experience in commercial and industrial electrical installations.
- At least 2 years' experience installing and commissioning VSDs/VFDs.
- Strong knowledge of:
Three-phase electrical systems
Motors and control equipment
Energy-saving technologies
- City & Guilds 2391 (or equivalent) Inspection & Testing qualification.
- 18th Edition Wiring Regulations (BS7671).
- Valid ECS Gold Card.
- Full UK driving licence (maximum six penalty points).
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Willingness to travel throughout the UK, including overnight stays.
Desirable Qualifications
- IPAF certification.
- PASMA certification.
- Solar PV installation and commissioning experience.
- Battery storage installation experience.
- Asbestos Awareness training.
- Experience delivering energy efficiency or energy reduction projects.
