Finance Data Performance Manager

We have a fantastic opportunity to join Sovereign Network Group (SNG) as Finance Data Performance Manager. SNG provide over 84,000 homes and invest in communities across the South, West and East of England, including London, as well as aiming to create thousands of new affordable homes every year.

In this technical role, you'll take the lead in driving and advancing modern finance data performance solutions, such as Power BI, across all finance functions. You'll champion the use of data-driven tools, supporting to develop user proficiency and empowering teams to harness existing and emerging technologies. This will improve decision-making, drive efficiency, and deliver better outcomes for SNG and the customers we serve.

Based from our offices in Basingstoke or Wembley, you'll combine office and home working in line with our hybrid approach. There may be some travel required with this role to other offices.

The Role

Reporting into the Financial Services Director, and working closely with the Data and Analytics teams, you'll be responsible for driving finance data performance solutions across SNG. Key responsibilities include:

  • Leading and driving synergy and adoption of existing SNG finance reporting into Power BI, owning and governing finance BI workspaces, and working with leadership teams within finance and the wider business to drive this forward
  • Being a trusted business partner to the Data and Analytics and Finance team, providing expertise and support for finance projects with regards to Power BI and data modelling requirements
  • Designing comprehensive reports that provide easier access to analysis from different data sources, connecting financial data with other internal and external data sources as well as governing standards of report production
  • Establishing, owning and governing foundational finance datasets, following data engineering best practice guidelines
  • Developing and governing guidelines for roll out of report builder level utilising consolidated finance datasets supporting finance and operational reporting
  • Nurturing the maturity of the finance Power BI champion network by providing support to ensure target levels of knowledge and skill are achieved and supporting to create comprehensive documentation for data solutions, including data dictionaries, business glossaries, process flows, and user guides
  • Managing and leading reporting transition and inter-dependencies between existing Power BI reporting on legacy systems with Workday reporting suite/solution

What we're looking for

You'll be a Qualified Accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA) with demonstrable experience in a similar role, combining financial analysis and data expertise with the ability to analyse complex datasets to derive actionable insights and business recommendations. You'll also need:

  • Experience working on large data sets, providing governance around data and how data is managed via quality control
  • Strong experience using business intelligence and data visualisation tools such as Power BI or Tableau with the ability to build and create reports as well as running reports and making recommendations from the data outputs
  • Working knowledge of how financial data is structured in finance systems and understanding of key reporting areas and KPIs
  • Practical working knowledge of DAX and SQL Coding
  • Demonstrable ability to build strong relationships with stakeholders of all levels
  • Effective communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to build trusted relationships at all levels and convey complex findings to diverse audiences
  • Ability to translate complex business requirements into actionable data solutions
  • Experience of using Workday reporting tools is desirable
