Apprentice Receptionist/Administrator
Join our friendly GP practice and develop skills in customer service, administration and healthcare operations. This exciting apprenticeship offers the opportunity to work alongside GPs, Nurses and Management teams while learning how a modern NHS practice runs from the inside.
Role
- Reception duties, including welcoming and assisting patients face-to-face.
- Booking, amending and cancelling patient appointments.
- Answering telephone calls and responding to patient enquiries.
- Filing laboratory results and responding to GP tasks.
- Monitoring and maintaining patient registers.
- Supporting the management of complex patient enquiries, with guidance and support.
- Scanning and electronically filing patient records and documentation.
- Maintaining medical records, including patient registrations, data entry and clinical coding.
- Taking messages and ensuring they are passed on promptly to the appropriate team member.
- Dealing with general enquiries received by telephone, email and letter.
- Processing prescription and fit note (sick note) requests.
- Liaising with external organisations, including hospitals and social services.
- Sending patient text messages and communications.
- Providing general administrative support to the GP Partners and the wider practice team.
Training
This apprenticeship offers an excellent opportunity to build a long-term career within the NHS. You will gain valuable experience using a range of IT systems, including clinical software and Microsoft Office applications, while developing a broad understanding of how a GP practice operates.
