The Opportunity

I'm working with a venture-backed startup in central London that's building software to make autonomous systems - like drones, robots, and intelligent vehicles - safe, predictable, and certifiable.

Their tech enables runtime assurance and compliance for AI-powered systems operating without a human in the loop. It's built for real-world deployment, starting in aerospace and defence.

They're now looking for a Software Engineering Manager to lead and grow the embedded engineering team i someone who can bring structure, technical leadership, and delivery capability to a highly skilled R&D group.

The Role

• Own the embedded software / firmware delivery across all platforms
• Lead architecture decisions and guide system-level integration
• Build and mentor a team of embedded and firmware engineers (15 people)
• Establish quality and safety processes aligned to standards like DO-178C, ISO 26262, IEC 61508

This role has a direct path in its first year to become CTO!

What You'll Bring

• Strong background in embedded software or firmware development
• Experience delivering software in safety-critical domains (aerospace, automotive, medical, etc)
• Familiar with modern embedded toolchains, C/C++, RTOS, low-level integration
• Strong communicator, able to collaborate across systems, hardware, and product teams
