Artificial Intelligence Engineer

Senior GenAI Developer

(Reporting to the CTO – UK, London office)

Are you ready to make a meaningful impact at the intersection of cutting-edge generative AI and real-world investment operations? My client is a globally-recognised macro fund with a strong presence in emerging markets and a London-based tech hub, is seeking a Senior GenAI Developer to join their growing team. This is a unique opportunity to work directly alongside the CTO and the recently appointed GenAI Engineer who has built the foundational GenAI environment.

What you’ll be doing

  • Own and lead the full lifecycle of GenAI initiatives: from ideation and prototyping through to production deployment, monitoring and optimisation.
  • Partner with the GenAI Engineer (who has already established the environment) to scale and mature the platform — tailoring it for high-performance use-cases within a complex investment, trading and research setting.
  • Translate business problems into GenAI solutions: embed large language models, retrieval-augmented-generation (RAG) systems, vector search, fine-tuning, prompt engineering and custom workflows.
  • Integrate GenAI models into existing data pipelines, handle data governance, security and ensure compliance in a financial-services context.

What we’re looking for

Mandatory:

  • Proven experience (5+ years) developing GenAI or ML-centric applications (or comparable AI/ML experience) in production.
  • Hands-on with large-language models (LLMs), prompt engineering, fine-tuning or embedding workflows.
  • Strong skills in Python, relevant ML/AI libraries (Hugging Face, OpenAI API, LangChain / other orchestration frameworks) and working knowledge of vector databases / vector search (e.g., Pinecone, FAISS, Qdrant) and retrieval systems.
  • Experience integrating AI/ML models into production systems (APIs, micro-services, e-2-e pipelines, monitoring, logging).

Highly desirable:

  • Prior experience working in financial services (hedge fund, trading, risk) or similarly high-performance, regulated environments.
  • Knowledge of cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, Azure) and infrastructure-as-code.
  • Experience with model governance, bias detection, explainability and building production-grade AI/ML observability frameworks.
