Infrastructure Engineer – (Azure Infrastructure, VMware, M365)

📍 Location: Manchester | 🕐 Full-time | 💻 Hybrid | 📈 £40,000
Position Summary
A dynamic and growth-focused technology firm is currently seeking an Infrastructure Engineer to support its expanding operations. Main Duties and Responsibilities
  • Maintain and enhance a hybrid IT infrastructure across multiple locations, incorporating VMware and Azure technologies
  • Provision and manage both Linux and Windows-based virtual servers
  • Oversee and support endpoint devices and internal network systems
  • Ensure effective backup solutions and disaster recovery readiness
  • Administer firewall configurations and process security change requests
  • Uphold system security and data integrity standards
  • Occasionally participate in scheduled maintenance or out-of-hours support work
 
Preferred Background
  • Minimum of two years in a related infrastructure or systems role
  • Strong interpersonal and collaborative abilities
  • Demonstrates initiative, reliability, and a results-driven approach
  • Comfortable adapting to evolving technical landscapes
 
 
Desired Technical Expertise
Candidates with experience in at least three of the following areas will be viewed favorably:
  • Microsoft Windows Server technologies (e.g., Active Directory, DNS, IIS, SQL Server)
  • Microsoft 365 tools and platforms (e.g., Entra ID, Intune, Exchange Online, Defender)
  • Endpoint administration for both Windows and macOS systems
  • Core networking components (e.g., switches, firewalls, zero-trust networking solutions)
  • Cloud infrastructure knowledge, especially Microsoft Azure or AWS
  • VMware vSphere management
  • Linux system administration (Debian-based preferred)
  • Backup and replication tools, particularly Veeam
  • Use of CDN management platforms (e.g., Cloudflare)
  • Application of patching and software update tools
