The Opportunity
We’re working with a creative technology studio delivering high-impact digital products for global clients. They’re now looking for a Senior DevOps Engineer to take ownership of their DevOps capability - blending hands-on engineering (~50–60%) with team leadership and client-facing delivery.
This role is ideal for a senior DevOps engineer stepping into leadership, or an existing lead who still enjoys being close to the tech.
What You’ll Be Doing
- Leading the DevOps practice, setting standards across infrastructure, CI/CD, and engineering workflows
- Designing, building and improving cloud infrastructure (primarily AWS)
- Owning and evolving CI/CD pipelines (GitHub Actions, etc.)
- Driving Infrastructure as Code (Terraform) adoption and best practice
- Managing support & maintenance services for clients, including incident response and resolution
- Supporting cost estimation and optimisation across cloud environments
- Working closely with developers to improve delivery practices and tooling
- Providing light team leadership (currently ~1–2 engineers)
- Engaging with clients to understand requirements and shape solutions
Tech Environment
- Cloud: AWS (core), Azure (nice to have)
- IaC: Terraform
- CI/CD: GitHub, GitHub Actions
- DevOps Tooling: Docker, monitoring/logging tools
- Languages: TypeScript or similar (nice to have)
- Other: SaaS-first mindset, modern DevOps tooling
What They’re Looking For
- Strong experience in AWS infrastructure and services
- Proven experience with Infrastructure as Code (Terraform)
- Solid understanding of CI/CD pipelines and DevOps best practices
- Experience managing incidents, support, and production environments
- Ability to balance hands-on engineering with leadership responsibilities
- Comfortable working in a client-facing environment
- Background could be:
- DevOps Engineer stepping into leadership
- Software Engineer who has moved into DevOps
Nice to have:
- Exposure to Azure / Azure DevOps
- Programming experience (e.g. TypeScript, Node.js, Python)
- Experience in agency or fast-paced delivery environments
