Staff ML Engineer – AI / NLP / Search (London – Hybrid) £90,000 - £110,000

An industry-leading, AI-first technology platform in the intellectual property space is hiring a Staff-Level ML Engineer to lead all Data and NLP initiatives.

This company was an early adopter of Large Language Models and is building advanced, agentic AI workflows that autonomously answer complex research questions. The platform combines proprietary ML models with cutting-edge NLP techniques to deliver high-precision search and insights at scale.

The Role

As the technical lead for Data & NLP, you will:

• Own and improve search performance (precision & recall)
• Optimise large-scale search algorithms for speed and relevance
• Design and implement agentic LLM workflows
• Build and maintain robust data pipelines
• Lead model development, training, and deployment
• Provide technical leadership across ML and NLP initiatives

This is a high-impact, hands-on leadership role in a product-driven AI company.

Requirements

• 8+ years of commercial experience in engineering and data science
• Proven technical leadership experience
• Strong Python expertise
• Commercial Machine Learning experience
• Deep experience in Natural Language Processing (NLP)
• Experience training models in TensorFlow and PyTorch
• Experience with search databases (Elasticsearch, OpenSearch, etc.)
• Experience with AWS or similar cloud platforms
• Willingness to work 3 days per week onsite in London
