Salary: £60,000-£95,000 depending on experience

SR2 is supporting a leading organisation delivering critical government defence programmes and is looking for DV Cleared Data Architects to join growing delivery teams.

These roles focus on designing secure, scalable data architectures that support mission-critical services across the defence landscape. You will work across complex programmes, shaping cloud-based data platforms in collaboration with engineering, delivery and stakeholder teams.

This role is focused on data architecture rather than data science, with an emphasis on data platforms, integration, governance, security and enterprise-scale design. The source brief describes a remit centred on defining data blueprints and end-to-end architectures across ingestion, orchestration, governance, security, observability and cost optimisation.

Key Responsibilities

• Define end-to-end data architecture for secure, complex government defence programmes
• Design scalable data platforms covering ingestion, integration, storage, governance and security
• Translate business and technical requirements into resilient cloud-based architecture designs
• Work closely with engineering and delivery teams to guide implementation and architectural decisions
• Ensure solutions support performance, observability, cost optimisation and long-term maintainability
• Contribute architectural leadership across multidisciplinary teams and senior stakeholder groups

Skills & Experience

• Active DV Clearance
• Strong background in data architecture, with experience designing enterprise-scale data platforms
• Experience in data integration, data warehousing, data lakes and modern cloud-based data ecosystems
• Cloud experience is essential, with AWS, Azure or GCP all considered relevant
• Strong understanding of data governance, security, resilience and architectural best practice
• Background should be in data architecture rather than data science, with the ability to lead architecture across complex delivery environments
